The Mahoning Township supervisors also handled these matters at their meeting this week:
Agreed to help the Bessemer VFW Post 267 to locate owners of two cemeteries in the township, one on East Main Street and one behind the fire station in Edinburg. The group would like to clean and maintain the neglected cemeteries, according to Philip Kelly, past Commander.
Agreed to try to get emergency money to repair a wall on McBride Road near the McBride Bridge.
Heard an announcement from Solicitor Louis Perrotta that the township has purchased nearly two acres on Main Street from Donald and Elaine Luther for $4,500 to alleviate a property line dispute.
Passed a resolution to withdraw from the Lawrence County Council of Governments. After the meeting, Vito Yeropoli said supervisors felt they were not getting any benefit from the $700 per year they pay to belong.
