Ron Chick’s big band in benefit concert
YOUNGSTOWN
The second annual Sweetest Day Celebration, a benefit concert for the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley, will be Sunday at Stambaugh Auditorium. Ron Chick’s All-Star Alumni 22-piece Big Band will perform a tribute to Frank Sinatra and friends in the first half of the show. The second half will be a salute to the big bands that played at the old Idora Park Ballroom.
Doors open at 3:30 p.m. for a lobby reception. The concert starts at 5 p.m.
Ron Chick’s band is composed of alumni from big bands led by Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Jimmy Dorsey, Maynard Ferguson, Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Artie Shaw and the U.S. Navy Band. Vocalists will be Bobby Remp and Rachell Joy.

Rock supergroup U2 will come to Heinz Field on July 26, 2011, which will be the final date of its tour. With a cylindrical video system of interlocking LED panels, and a steel structure rising 150 feet from the floor over a massive stage with rotating bridges, the band creates an unobstructed view for concertgoers.
