FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


WEDNESDAY

Boar’s Head Ladies of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown, will sponsor a chicken dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. The menu will include salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, bread and butter, pie and beverage. Cost is $6.50, and containers will be provided for takeout orders. No reservations are necessary. Niles Knights of Columbus will have a hot dog/chili dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the hall, 1024 Vienna Ave., Niles. A combo meal will be $5. Items are also priced individually.

Pricetown Methodist Church, 4640 Pritchard-Ohltown Road, Newton Falls, will serve a home-cooked supper of meatloaf, potatoes, vegetable, coleslaw, desserts and beverages from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 12, and free for those 5 and younger. Carryouts will be available.

THURSDAY

Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave. ext., North Lima, will have a drive-through homemade chicken dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. (or until sold out) Oct. 14 . Dinners include stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. The cost is $6. Drive up to the door and a volunteer will bring the meal to your car.

Col. Louis J. Campbell VFW Post 3538, 157 Lowellville Road, Struthers, will serve spaghetti dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Meals will include meatballs, salad, bread and butter, and coffee. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 8. Carryout orders are $6.50 and will be available only until 6 p.m. Containers will be provided.

St. Michael Orthodox Church, 125 Steel St., Youngstown, will serve a homemade Chinese lunch and supper from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Thursday. This week’s menu will feature Shanghai chicken and soy sauce pork chop. The cost of the meal is $5. No reservations are necessary.

FRIDAY

Heritage Presbyterian Church, 1951 Mathews Road, Poland, will serve dinners of chili, bread, crackers and pie from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The cost is $5. Bowls of chili are $2.50, refills are $1, quarts are $4, slice of pie is $2, whole pies are $7, and coffee or punch are 50 cents each.

Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Orders may be picked up from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown. will sell potato and cheese pirogi. To order call 330-799-0084 after 6 p.m. Thursday or from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Cost is $5 per bag of one dozen (no containers necessary). Walk-ins are welcome. Patrons are asked to use the side entrance.

St. Anthony Church, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown, will be selling pizza and other Italian treats. Orders may be placed by calling 330-746-9577 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. and must be picked up by 1 p.m.

St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi. Cost is $4.50 a dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at 330-755-1316, and orders can be picked up beginning at noon. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-in orders will be available.

St. Luke Church, 5235 South Ave., Boardman, will bake Italian-style red and white pizza. Phone orders will be accepted at 330-788-0025 between 9-11:30 a.m. only. Pickup will be until 12:30 p.m. Price is $6 for regular or Brier Hill pizza, and $5 for white pizza.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main Street, New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi Friday. The cost is $5 a dozen. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 Friday, based upon availability. Lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers and use the side entrance.

SATURDAY

Cortland United Methodist Church, 155 N. High St., Cortland, will have a turkey dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Meals include homemade dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, coleslaw, cranberry sauce, bread, dessert and beverage. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children 5 to 12, and free for those under 5. Carryouts will be available.

Donald Lockett VFW Post 6488 Auxiliary, 2065 Coitsville-Hubbard Road, will be serving barbecued ribs and chicken dinners from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cost is $8 for ribs and $7 for chicken. Takeouts are available; call 330-746-8259.

Vienna Presbyterian Church, 4295 Warren Sharon Road, will sell stuffed chicken dinners, takeout only, from 3-6 p.m. Prices are $7 for adults, and $5 for children 12 and under. Meals include gravy, potato, green beans, salad and cake.

SUNDAY

Fowler Volunteer Fire Department will have its monthly pancake, sausage and egg breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the fire station, state Route 193. Prices are $6 for adults, $4 for senior citizens and children 6 to 12, and free for preschoolers.

Holy Trinity Church, 250 N. Bridge St., Struthers, is sponsoring a stuffed cabbage dinner from noon till 4 p.m. in the parish hall. Prices are $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Takeout will be available; patrons are asked to take their own containers.

Kinsman Presbyterian Church, 6383 Church St., Kinsman, will have a roast beef dinner from noon to 2 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Men’s Organization to benefit mission projects. Tickets will be $7 for adults, and $3 for children 12 and under. For more information call 330-876-4485.

Struthers United Methodist Church, 33 Sexton St., Struthers, is having a creamed chicken over biscuits dinner from noon to 2 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults and 3.50 for children. Carryout is available. The Youth Group of the church will have a bake sale at the same time.

TUESDAY

Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., is taking orders for individual serving sized baked ham loaves at 330 758-4527. Cost is $1.25 each, and pickup will be between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Mahoning United Methodist Church, 2214 Mahoning Ave., will sell stuffed cabbage rolls from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until sold out for $1.50 each. To place an order call 330-799-5318 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. daily through Friday. Advance orders are appreciated. Walk-ins welcomed.

TAKING ORDERS

Happy Hearts Junior Tamburitzans will sell hand-pulled apple and cheese strudels for the holidays. Baking instructions come with the frozen strudels. The cost is $8 each. UPCOMING

American Hungarian Club, 2219 Donald Ave., Youngstown, will serve chicken paprikash dinners from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 24. Reservations or orders will be accepted until Oct. 21 at 330-792-5124. Meals are $8. Patrons may provide containers for takeouts and save a $1.25 container charge.

Ohltown United Methodist Church, 2001 Ohltown Road, Austintown, will have its annual turkey dinner and bake sale on Nov. 13. The donation is $8.50 for adults, $4 for children 6-12, and free for kids under 5. The dinner is by reservation and features turkey and all the trimmings with pie for dessert, served family-style.
