MARION, Ohio
Authorities say an Ohio teacher dropped a can of insecticide in a career-center classroom, leading to a spill that sent him and three students to a hospital as a precaution.
Marion firefighter Rex Coldwell said some of the chemical got on the teacher when the can split open about 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tri-Rivers Career Center in central Ohio.
Superintendent Charles Speelman told The Columbus Dispatch three students and the teacher were taken to a nearby hospital and released by 5 p.m.
Center spokeswoman Ellen Messenger said the floral-design teacher was in the classroom with seven students when the pesticide Duraplex was released.
She said it has an irritating odor and can be hazardous.
Coldwell said that the school was evacuated.
