Two Canfield buses in minor accident
Canfield
Two district school buses were involved in a minor accident after dropping students at Hilltop Elementary.
Sgt. Scott Weamer, Canfield assistant chief, said the accident happened on school property at about 8:30 a.m. Monday.
“The buses were in line after unloading the kids,” he said. “And one bus hit another bus.”
Weamer said neither bus was damaged in the accident and no one was injured.
He said the drivers had conflicting stories about who hit who, but because the accident happened on private property it’s the district’s responsibility to investigate.
“Because it was on private property the police department doesn’t investigate to determine fault,” he said.
Superintendent Dante Zambrini said the incident was minor.
“Basically what happened is someone started to put the bus in reverse, and before they could stop, the buses tapped one another,” he said. “It’s something that sometimes happens when families park two cars in the driveway.”
Zambrini said the most important thing was that no children were on board at the time.
