Paul Gertner to perform close-up magic at the Butler

YOUNGSTOWN

Magician Paul Gertner will come to the Butler Institute of American Art, 524 Wick Ave., for four shows, Friday through Sunday.

Gertner was a frequent guest on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson,” and has performed worldwide. He won the Magician of the Year award three times from the Magic Castle in Hollywood.

Gertner will give a close-up magic show, “Ten Fingers,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday. “Ten Fingers” is designed for adults and children age 10 and older.

Gertner will also present a show aimed at children younger than 10 at 2 p.m. Sunday. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

All performances will be in the museum’s Beecher Center auditorium. A camera will be trained on Gertner that will show close-ups of his sleight-of-hand on a large overhead screen.

Tickets are $25 ($35 for Gold Circle) for the Friday and Saturday shows; and $20 ($15 for children) for the Sunday show. Call the Butler at 330-743-1107, ext. 210, to order with a MasterCard or Visa. The show will raise funds for the Butler’s initiative to replace its gallery lighting with energy-efficient LED fixtures.
