The Mahoning County One-Stop will host a recruiting event and open interviews for Comfort Keepers on Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the employment agency, 141 Boardman- Canfield Road.

Area residents interested in part-time employment as home health aides are encouraged to attend.

Various shifts are available at locations in Youngstown, Warren, East Palestine, East Liverpool, Salem, Damascus and East Rochester.

Start-up seminar

The Ohio Small Business Development Center at Youngstown State University will host a small-business start-up seminar Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the YWCA, 375 N. Park Ave.

The event, co-sponsored by Warren Weed & Seed, will provide direction, information and resources to help existing businesses and those interested in starting a new business. The course is free.

EBay course

The Trumbull Career and Technical Center’s Adult Training Center is offering an eight-hour course on how to sell on eBay.

Students will learn how to sell products on eBay safely and efficiently and utilize other services offered by the popular online auction site.

The Center will offer the course Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m. and again from 6 to 8 p.m. The program starts Tuesday.

Safety conference

The Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber will host the Mahoning Valley Safety Conference and Expo on Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center.

The conference will offer full-day, half-day and short educational sessions on how effective workplace safety and health programs can increase overall business productivity.

Workshops also will provide tips and showcase products and services to improve work-force safety, well-being and quality of life.

The event is co-hosted by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, the Mahoning Valley Safety Council, the Northern Ohio chapter of the National Safety Council, the Manufacturing Advocacy & Growth Network and L. Calvin Jones & Company.

Market Square Music has opened at 6406 Kinsman-Nickerson Road. The studio offers lessons in band instruments, piano and music theory.

Owner Joan Bradford Sutton, a graduate of Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music, specializes in woodwind instruction.
