American Red Cross of Mahoning Valley is offering a pet first-aid class from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Boardman location, 8381 Market St. Participants will be able to recognize animal emergencies and give appropriate emergency care until veterinary help can be provided. Rabies clinic set for Saturday
BERLIN
Mahoning County District Board of Health is sponsoring a rabies vaccination clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Berlin Township Fire Department, U.S. Route 224 at state Route 534. No appointment is necessary. Cost is $4. Pets must be on a leash or in a cage or pillowcase. The clinic is in partnership with Dr. Lisa Kurtz, veterinarian, East Park Veterinary Clinic, Columbiana.
Flu vaccine clinic
Hermitage, Pa.
Hermitage Community Medicine UPMC, 705 Brookshire Drive, Suite 2, will host a seasonal-flu vaccination clinic from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday for patients age 3 and older. Those who attend should wear short sleeves and bring their insurance cards. Check with your insurance provider to see if the cost is covered. If insurance does not cover it, the cost is $39. After-hours clinic
Hermitage, Pa.
UPMC Horizon will begin having an after-hours clinic Oct. 18 at Womancare Center of UPMC Horizon, 875 N. Hermitage Road. Hours are 5 to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday. The clinic will be staffed by UPMC family-medicine practitioners and will accept patients of all ages who have health issues not severe enough for the hospital emergency department but serious enough to be seen right away. Conditions include earaches, sore throats, colds and flu. Appointments are not required. Many insurance plans are accepted, and office co-pays apply at the time of service.
