Newton Falls woman, 20, killed in crash in Trumbull County

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle accident that killed a 20-year-old woman.

Ashley Jerina of Newton Falls died when a 1992 Subaru driven by Nathan Ferris, 21, also of Newton Falls, drove off the right side of Palmyra Road, near Kibler Toot Road, and hit a utility pole. Jerina was thrown from the vehicle and fatally injured about 4 p.m. Saturday.

Ferris was taken by helicopter to St. Elizabeth Health Center where he was in serious condition Sunday afternoon.

The two were not wearing seatbelts. No charges have been filed.
