YSU LIVE | Penguins trail 21-20 at halftime

The Youngstown State football team trails North Dakota State 21-20 at halftime of Saturday's game at Stambaugh Stadium.

North Dakota State scored on a 4-yard TD pass from backup QB Jose Mohler to D.J. McNorton on the first play of the quarter. Mohler was playing after starter Brock Jensen left the game following a big hit by YSU QB Deonta Tate. No word was immediately available on Jensen's injury, although it may be a right shoulder injury. He appeared to be favoring his shoulder when he left the game.

YSU answered quickly, scoring on a 50-yard TD pass from Kurt Hess to Dominique Barnes with 12:51 left in the quarter. That reception gave Barnes six receptions for 100 yards in the first 17 minutes, his first 100-yard performance since the opener against Penn State.

The Bison answered on the following drive, with Derrick Lang scoring from 1 yard out with 8:21 left.

On their next drive, Mike Sigers broke free for a 56-yard TD run with 4:55 left. North Dakota State isn't doing anything mysterious. The Bison are simply beating YSU up front, holding their blocks and letting their running backs get to the second level.

Stephen Blose made a 24-yard field goal with 11 seconds left in the half to cut it to 1.
