That’s not where that goes! Jacob Westmoreland found a creative way to hold the pumpkin he bought at the Pumpkin Patch.

Watson Elementary students had an early taste of Halloween, as the Watson PTA hosted its annual Pumpkin Patch Day on Oct. 1.
On the grass of Watson’s playground area, pumpkins from Mashorda’s Community Gardens in Youngstown were lined up for students to buy.
“Our pumpkins from Mashorda’s are picked to be bright and round, and under 12 pounds so that the children won’t have too much trouble picking them up,” said event organizer and PTA member Nancy Wickham.
“But you know kids, every year one child always spots the heaviest pumpkin and has to lug it all the way back to home room.”
Besides the pumpkins, the PTA also sold baked goods and fall-themed silly bands and toys for the students. The money raised from Pumpkin Patch Day pools into the PTA’s general fund, which in prior years has bought planners and books for the Watson students.
“We’re always thinking about the future of Watson students and what we can provide for them,” said Wickham.
