Bulldogs defend sectional title
The Lady Bulldogs defended their golf sectional title at Pine Lakes Sept. 29 by shooting a 331 score for the 18-hole event. Medalist Allison Mitzel shot a 73 and runner-up Maria Mancini shot a 74.
Giana DiBenedetto carded a 90. Melinda Hannon scored a 94 and Christine Bilas was close behind with a 95.
Ursuline rally set for Mooney week
Ursuline High School’s spirit rally will be Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. in advance of the Ursuline-Mooney football game the following night at Stambaugh Stadium. The rivalry, which began 52 years ago, attracts alumni of both schools.
Special guests at the rally will include fifth-, sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders from the Catholic elementary schools in the Ursuline district. On game night, Oct. 22, Ursuline’s Home and School Association will sponsor a family tailgate party in the Bryson Street lot beginning at 5 p.m.
Ebony Lifeline HOF banquet is Oct. 22
The Ebony Lifeline All-Sports Hall of Fame banquet is Oct. 22 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Banquet Hall, 343 Via Mt. Carmel at 6:30 p.m.
The main speaker is former NFL player Jay Cunningham.

Poland girls soccer loses to Canfield
The visiting Canfield girls soccer team defeated Poland 1-0 Sept. 29.
Poland had 12 shots on goal and Abbie Frank had 10 saves. Canfield had 15 shots on goal and Jackie Poldolsky had seven saves.
Canfield’s Paige Baker scored the only goal off an assist from Alys Cook.
The Canfield JV squad also beat Poland 1-0.
