Police seeking information about HIV-positive man

Staff Report

LISBON

Authorities are asking people to come forward if they have information about sexual contact with an HIV-positive man.

Atty. Tim McNicol, the Columbiana County assistant prosecutor who handles sex crimes, on Friday asked that anyone with information to call Tina Dillworth at the county prosecutor’s office at 330-420-0140.

Tony L. McKenzie, 40, of Knox Township was arrested Thursday after he alledgedly violated the terms of his bond. He is now being held in the Columbiana County Jail after he was charged with telephone harassment.

McKenzie had been indicted last week by the country grand jury on a charge of felonious assault for having the HIV virus without telling his wife about his infection, and for engaging in unprotected sex with her.

McKenzie came to Columbiana County from the Summit County area.

The wife learned of his infection in April.

As part of his release from the county jail on the felonious assault charge, McKenzie was told not to have any contact with his wife. McNicol said McKenzie’s wife reported that her husband had been driving past her home near Guilford Lake, and had been texting her.

Deputies found McKenzie at a restroom at Guilford State Park, but don’t think he was involved in any sexual activity there.
