Mount Union offers theater production

ALLIANCE

The University of Mount Union’s Department of Theatre will present “Zara Spook and Other Lures” by Joan Ackermann at 8 tonight and Saturday in Rodman Playhouse, corner of Simpson Street and Union Avenue. The comedy is centered around Evelyn, a little woman who wants to win the national women’s bass-fishing tournament. The cast includes Katie Proch of Canfield as Evelyn. Tickets are $8. Kent music series

SALEM

Kent State University-Salem’s Symphonious Sunday Series starts Oct. 17 with a piano concert by international students from the university’s Glauser School of Music. Future concerts include:

Nov. 7: The Kent State Jazz Ensemble.

Dec. 19: the Kent Salem Community Choir.

Each of the free concerts begins at 3 p.m. in the auditorium of Kent State-Salem City Center, 230 N. Lincoln Ave.

Kids’ play celebrates scientific achievement

LISBON

“Eureka” will be presented at 7 p.m. Oct. 29 and 30; and 2 p.m. Oct. 31 at Trinity Playhouse, 234 E. Lincoln Way. The one-act play was written by Kandace Cleland, who also directs, with music written by Jodine Pilmer. The cast includes 31 girls in grades kindergarten through eight. The play explores the scientific process, the history of flight, the invention of the telescope, the wheel, and more examples of brain power. Tickets are $8 ($6 for seniors and students).

Museum hours

MERCER, Pa.

As of Sunday, the Rural Life Museum of the Mercer County Historical Society will be open on Sundays only from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. until Nov. 1, when the season ends. The museum is on Route 58 behind Avalon Springs, a mile north of Mercer. Admission is free.
