POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Sept. 30

Burglary: To a residence in the 3700 block of Farm Avenue through a rear window. Among the items stolen were a 42-inch TV, a computer and a cell phone, for a $4,145 loss.

Oct. 3

Theft: More than $6,100 was stolen from a township residence.

Oct. 4

Theft/forgery: A Poland Village Boulevard woman reported three stolen personal checks also were forged.

BOARDMAN

Oct. 1

Arrest: A traffic stop near Doral Drive resulted in the arrest of 35-year-old Mansol N. Young, who listed addresses on Maywood Drive and Rush Boulevard in Youngstown. Young was wanted on a probation-violation charge.

Theft: Renee Beshara, 54, of 3250 Brandywine Drive, Youngstown, was charged with theft and possession of drug paraphernalia after a pack of batteries and two hooded jackets were stolen from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive. A glass pipe with suspected marijuana residue was found, police said.

Criminal mischief: Someone removed a garage door in the 6600 block of Market Street.

Burglary: Took place in the 7300 block of Sierra Madre Trail via a side window. A 46-inch flat-screen TV was taken.

Theft: YeseniaA. Jimenez, 29, of 6885 Lockwood Blvd., Boardman, was charged with stealing $158 worth of clothing from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.

Assault: A female student at Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave., told police another female student struck the accuser’s face in an unprovoked attack, which led to a fight. The girl had a cut near her left ear.

Drugs: Officers pulled over a vehicle near South Avenue, where they took into custody 27-year-old Kristi L. Summerville, 1238 Brittain St., Youngstown, on a warrant charging her with possession of marijuana.

Oct. 2

Harassment: A Euclid Boulevard man reported the latest in a series of roughly 150 threatening text messages.

Theft: A 15-year-old Youngstown girl was charged and released to the custody of an older sister after 20 toiletries and household cleaning products were stolen from Walmart.

Theft: A Canfield woman reported her purse stolen at a South Avenue restaurant.

Theft: Renee A. Beshara, 54, of 3250 Brandywine Drive, Youngstown, faced two theft counts after police accused her of stealing clothing and jewelry from two Southern Park Mall stores.

Assault: Police charged 36-year-old Tara J. Meta, 7421 Sierra Madre Trail, Boardman, with two counts of assault after a woman alleged Meta had struck her head and face while the accuser held a carrier containing an infant. The second charge was filed after police noticed a red mark on the infant, presumably caused when the carrier fell during the assault, a report said.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle near Hopkins Road was shot with paintballs.

Theft: Robert F. Premec, 47, of 2114 Coleman Drive, Youngstown, was charged with stealing three copper fittings from Home Depot, 7001 Southern Blvd.

Identity fraud: The daughter of an elderly Shelby Road man checked her father’s credit-card statement and discovered a $1,309 fraudulent charge.

Felonious assault: Alan J. Joseph, 42, of Cleveland faced charges of felonious assault and domestic violence after a Washington Boulevard woman and a witness alleged Joseph had struck the woman’s head in a vehicle, causing a deep cut for which she sought medical attention.

Oct. 3

Arrest: Police picked up 23-year-old Kevin D. Cartwright, 110 High St., Canfield, in the 4100 block of Southern Boulevard. He was charged with failure to appear in court.

Identity fraud: A Locust Avenue man noticed his debit-card number had been used without consent to make several purchases, likely online. He was later reimbursed.

Criminal mischief: Someone used chalk to write on a vehicle in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court.

Harassment: An Arden Boulevard woman told police she received at least 10 threatening and harassing calls.

Oct. 4

Theft: Four firearms and numerous other items were stolen from a bedroom closet in the 800 block of Glen Park Road.

Breaking and entering: Someone used a key to enter a vacant Gertrude Avenue home and remove about 220 feet of copper piping.

Theft: A stereo was taken from a car at a Market Street business.

Theft: A West Boulevard man discovered more than $4,300 missing from his checking account.

Theft by deception: An installer of glass block provided a credit-card number before adding $550 worth of the glass to a Wildwood Drive residence. The number, however, was rejected as being nonexistent.

Theft: Amanda Pirlozzi, 21, of 1409 Hawn St., Youngstown, was charged in the theft of six DVDs from Walmart.

Identity theft: A Huntington Court man found out someone had used his name and date of birth to fill out a credit-card application.

Oct. 5

Arrest: Vincent R. Thomas Jr., 23, no address listed, was charged with violating a protection order after a family member told police Thomas came to her Paulin Drive residence in violation of the order. He also was wanted on a warrant from Campbell charging him with violating a court order.
