At West Boulevard Elementary, it pays to be honest.

Students were treated to Hershey’s kisses, chocolate syrup and whipped cream as a reward for being trustworthy.

The students ate ice cream sundaes with principal Alphonse Cervello, Sept. 30.

Each month, the school focuses on a key characteristic that teachers secretly look for. When a teacher sees a student performing that specific mannerism, they write down the student’s name and turn it in to the school office. One student from each homeroom is randomly picked at the end of the month from the names turned in.

Students are rewarded with ice cream sundaes and a certificate. Their photo is also taken and hung in the school hallway.

October’s feature characteristic is perseverance.
