Four high seeds advance in Div. II, Fitch sends one

All four of the high singles seeds, and three of the four high seeded doubles teams, advanced to the quarterfinals of the Division II sectional tennis tournament.

Chelsea Ross and Gabriella Lee of Warren JFK, as well as Liberty’s Victoria Ferry and Amy Noll of Poland advanced. Each had a bye in the first round, and defeated opponents in rounds two, three and four.

Ross will play Liberty’s Victoria Vaturi in the next round. Lee will face Colleen Browning of Lakeview, while Noll will play Cardinal Mooney’s Nicoleete Armoto, and Ferry will face Brookfeild’s Ashley Kirila.

In Division I, Fitch has one doubles team still alive after a rain-shortened first day.

Two of Fitch’s three singles players were eliminated in the first round, as was one of its doubles teams. Sarah Ragen was victorious in the first round, but was defeated in the next round.

Fitch’s doubles team of Kellie and sister Nikki Wenick advanced after defeating a Canton GlenOak team 6-0, 6-0. The team had a by in the first round, and will play again early Friday morning.
