Canfield posts ninth shutout

The Canfield High boys soccer team earned its record-tying ninth shutout of the season, defeating Beaver Local 1-0 Tuesday.

P.J. Stickle had the only goal of the game, and was assisted by Jack Monda. Goalkeeper Mike Thomas had a save for the Cardinals (11-0).

Lakeview 2, Poland 1

Cortland

Matt Black and A.J. Miller scored on assists by Ryan Ellis and Aaron Huston to help Lakeview, which was tied 1-1 at halftime. Alex Rosowicz had five saves and Thomas Adair two. For Poland, Kevin Krumpak scored on an assist by Drew Wagner. Alex Magni made nine saves. JVs: Lakeview 4-2.

Hubbard 1, Niles 0

HUBBARD

Tim Kemner scored with 1:11 left in the game, scoring on a breakaway off an assist from David Grimwood. Tyler Pagley had five saves for Hubbard (8-3-1). Niles is 3-4-3.

JVs: Hubbard 4-1.

Heartland 4, Columbiana 0

COLUMBIANA

Daniel Walsh scored three times and Ben McCown had one for Heartland (7-5), while Ryan Benner and Chris Palmer had assists and Drew Fountain made five saves.

Cardinal Mooney 1, Mentor Lake Catholic 1

Mentor

Clay Hicks of Mooney and Scott Scaperoto of Lake Catholic each had a goal in the draw.

Assisting in the goal for the Cardinals (3-9-1) was Ryan Yavorsky in the rematch of last year’s Division II regional final.

Dalton Smith had 11 saves for Mooney.
