Scary time of year

Scary time of year

Two very frightening and similar events will occur within a few weeks — Halloween and the federal mid-term elections. Little tykes will put on their costumes in anxious anticipation just as our politicians already have. One will wear theirs so that we will not know who they are and the other so that we don’t know what they are.

One will wear a costume in anticipation of getting a lot of treats; the other will hide behind a guise of honesty, integrity and trustworthiness in anticipation of getting your vote. In appreciation, about 40 percent of our congressmen will become lobbyists upon leaving office accompanied by that undeniable conflict- of-interest stench. The much needed and recently passed financial reform bill met stiff opposition by those who were only interested in maintaining the status quo and not our welfare.

There has been a lot of talk recently as to how high technology jobs will have a major role in the rebirth of America. China has made it known that its future centers around high tech jobs as well. Considering how often in the past American jobs have been outsourced, our country will once again be the loser as it has been ever since China was granted most favored nation status. Our jobs will be sold to the lowest bidder.

Voters are wondering who they should vote for with an undeniable gut feeling that it really makes no difference who is elected. Learn as much as you can about the candidates and disregard party labels.
