Man stabbed

YOUNGSTOWN

A 24-year-old man was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center by ambulance after police said he suffered a severe cut when he was stabbed in his upper chest and neck early Monday.

A witness told police he admitted the bleeding victim, Marcus Philippi, to Philippi’s residence in the 500 block of East Avondale Avenue and called 911, after Philippi had walked there from South and Avondale avenues, where he was stabbed, and knocked on the front door.

Police said Philippi was attacked by an unidentified man “who stabbed him without saying a word and for no apparent reason,” at 12:14 a.m. but did not rob him.

The witness told police he didn’t know anyone who would stab his friend. No description of the assailant was available, police said. The police report does not identify the type of weapon used to stab Philippi.
