Over 20 listed in OHSAA rankings

Things changed very little for area teams in the Ohio High School Athletic Association football computer ratings, released on Tuesday.

The most-populated regions are in Division III and V, where five of the top 12 schools are from the area in Region 9 and Region 17, respectively.

Poland (4-2) leads the way in fifth place, followed by Hubbard (4-2) in sixth, Mooney (3-2) in seventh, Niles (3-3) in 10th and Southeast (3-3) in 11th.

Poland plays host to Howland on Friday. The Tigers (6-0) are the only area team ranked in Div. II, at No. 4 in Region 5.

Region 17 is led by Ursuline (6-0) in second. Crestview (5-1) is third, South Range (5-1) in sixth, United (4-2) in eighth and Brookfield (3-3) in 11th.

The Fighting Irish play host to Columbus St. Charles on Friday. St. Charles (5-1) is ranked No. 4 in Div. II, Region 7.

There’s also five teams rated in Div. VI, but in two regions.

In Region 21, Western Reserve (6-0) is second, while Mathews (4-2) is 11th and McDonald (4-2) is 12th.

In Region 23, Southern (5-1) is eighth and Columbiana (3-3) is 11th.

Also in Div. III, East Liverpool (5-1) is third and Salem (5-1) is sixth in Region 11.

In Div. IV, Region 13, four teams are listed, led by Campbell Memorial (5-1) in fifth, Lakeview (4-2) in ninth, Girard (4-2) in 11th, and Champion (4-2) in 12th.

On Friday, Campbell Memorial visits Champion.

In Div. I, Region 1, Austintown Fitch (6-0) is in third place, followed by Boardman (4-2) in sixth and Warren Harding (5-1) in 10th.
