New Castle man killed in crash on SR 108


NEW CASTLE, PA

A 36-year-old New Castle man was killed when he drove his car off the side of the road on state Route 108 in Scott Township.

Kenneth W. Hammond was driving his 1997 Cadillac DeVille too fast at 6 a.m. Saturday, eastbound on the state route, failing to stay on the road when it bended, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The car traveled off the left side of the road, hit a traffic sign, then a drainage ditch, causing it to go into the air. The car rolled several times , ejecting Hammond during the crash, police said.

He was pronounced dead by the Lawrence County coroner’s office at 6:42 a.m.
