Friends of Paws Town will have a Canine Carnival from noon to 4 p.m. next Sunday in Boardman Park. The event will benefit Friends of Paws Town, a local nonprofit trying to raise funds for Paws Town, an enclosed 1.5-acre dog park within Boardman Park. Free gift bags will be given to the first 50 people who enter the park, off U.S. Route 224 between Shops at Boardman Park and Southern Boulevard.
Activities will include bobbing for bones for the dogs, doggy costume contest and trick contest, face-painting, dog-kissing booth, auction, photo booth, vendors, food and training exhibitions.

MCCTC salon
CANFIELD
Cosmetology students at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center will open a salon Tuesday that will serve the public .
A variety of services including haircuts and manicures will be offered. All services are performed by students under the supervision of an instructor. Prices start at $6. Salon hours are 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday through Friday, by appointment only, through May. For appointments, call Linda Tomko at 330-729-1309.
I-79 road work
OIL CITY, Pa.
I-79 northbound and southbound over I-80, near mile marker 116.5, will have a lane restriction through Friday, and the right shoulders on I-80 near I-79, eastbound and westbound, will be closed for bridge work.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says motorists should expect congestion and delays as traffic slows. Message boards will alert motorists approaching the work zones.
Gothic-manor tour
EAST ROCHESTER

Drug collection

Valley residents are invited to drop off their expired and unused prescription medications from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the township administration building, 8299 Market St., and Grace Fellowship Church, 2150 Niles-Cortland Road (state Route 46) in Warren. The event is sponsored by Home Instead Senior Care, the Green Team, Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office and Boardman Police Department.
