The Mahoning Valley College Access Program has posted three free college e-books for students, parents and school personnel on college admissions and financial aid, according to the nonprofit organization’s executive director, Joe Rottenborn.

Available at no charge for reading, printing, or downloading at http://issuu.com/mvcap are these e-books: “Going To College: Step-by-Step, Part 1 — Career Exploration and College Search;” “Part 2 — ACT Preparation;” and “Paying for College.”

Each e-book is in a PowerPoint format, with photos of MVCAP Last-Dollar Scholarship awardees and links to other Internet resources.

These MVCAP guides were developed through a $20,000 Great Lakes College Access Investment Grant from the Ohio College Access Program.

The MVCAP’s blog, mvcap.blogspot.com, also provides a link to download the PDF file of “Going To College: Step-by-Step.”

Anyone can e-mail MVCAP at jrottenb@kent.edu to request a Word file of “Going To College: Step-by-Step” or with questions about college admissions and financial aid. All information is provided free.

Founded in 2001, the MVCAP has provided free services to more than 8,000 students, parents and educators in the Mahoning Valley. It has raised more than $1 million in grants and charitable contributions and awarded more than 160 Last-Dollar Scholarships, most for $1,000.

MVCAP has office space provided gratis in its three-county service area (Columbiana, Mahoning, and Trumbull) at Kent State Salem, Youngstown State, and KSU Trumbull.
