Boardman arsons under investigation
Staff report
Police are searching for the culprits responsible for a series of arsons on the township’s northeast side.
The most recent arson was reported Sept. 24 on Wolosyn Circle, near Mathews and Sheridan roads. An 8-by-10-foot wooden shed had been set on fire, causing $5,000 in damage, police said.
In the past two months, seven other arson reports have been filed from the same street. There have been two inside apartments, one car fire, three fires in large trash bins and one woodpile fire.
Lt. Jim McCreary, Boardman fire-prevention officer, said the department has a couple of leads but is asking residents for help.
“We’re asking people to report any kind of vandalism, not just fires, and asking them to be hyper- vigilant,” McCreary said, adding that all but one of the fires occurred in the late evening or early morning.
Anyone with information is asked to call Boardman police at 330-726-4144.
