Austintown library hosted its Summer Reading Splashdown Monday to honor the top readers from the summer. Top readers were selected according to grade level and the total number of hours that were spent reading over the summer. Each grade level winner received a certificate for their reading achievement.
The summer reading program, Make a Splash-Read, was intended to encourage children to explore the literary world through books.
The reading program, which began in June, was geared to kindergarten through sixth-graders. The Reading Splashdown included an interactive storytime and a game of wits with the children competing against their parents in trivia questions.
Apples and lemonade were served as refreshments and kids had the option to participate in a coloring craft table.
