Youngstown school board and teachers union reach tentative deal

The bargaining teams for both the city school board and the union representing its 630 teachers have reached a tentative agreement.

Superintendent Wendy Webb and Will Bagnola, president of the Youngstown Education Association, issued a joint statement this morning. It says the bargaining teams have reached a tentative agreement “in principle on terms and conditions.”

No specifics will be released until both parties have ratified the agreement, the statement says.

Earlier this week, more than 100 teachers attended a school board meeting, wearing fluorescent T-shirts that read, “YEA United.” A union spokesman, at that time, said it was an effort to show support for the bargaining team.
