Police: Bus strikes, kills elderly woman

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police say an elderly woman is dead after being struck by a commuter bus in North Philadelphia.

Investigators did not release the woman’s name after she was struck Thursday evening by a Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority bus.

Police say the woman may have been running to catch the bus as it pulled away. Authorities say she was struck by side of the bus and pulled underneath. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

About 20 passengers were on the bus at the time.
