Ohio tax break for energy facilities
columbus
Gov. Ted Strickland signed an executive order Wednesday to eliminate Ohio’s tangible personal-property tax and real-property tax for advanced- and renewable- energy project facilities. The order will affect projects that begin construction before Jan. 1, 2012, produce energy by 2013-17 for nuclear, clean coal and cogeneration projects — and create jobs in Ohio. The state will levy service payments from qualified energy facilities based on the project’s energy-production levels and job creation.
Companies may submit applications for projects now. For information, visit www.development.ohio.gov.
