1 killed in fire at Cincinnati homeless camp

CINCINNATI (AP) — Firefighters say one person was killed when a Cincinnati homeless camp burned.

Authorities say no information was available early Monday about the victim, whose gender could not immediately be determined after being badly burned in what they described as a huge outdoor blaze. The fire late Sunday was at a camp at a city viaduct.

They say several manmade structures were consumed by flames. Firefighters are investigating what started the blaze.

Josh Spring is the executive director of the Greater Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless. He tells The Cincinnati Enquirer there are multiple homeless camps under the city’s viaducts.
