Saturday’s big east games

Connecticut 38, Cincinnati 17

EAST HARTFORD, Conn.

Connecticut’s Jordan Todman ran for 175 yards and three touchdowns and the Huskies moved a step closer to a BCS bowl berth. UConn Defensive lineman Kendall Reyes had a key interception deep in Husky territory just before halftime, setting up a 1-yard Todman touchdown run that made it 24-10 UConn. Todman, who carried the ball 31 times, scored twice more in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Quarterback Zach Collaros threw for 288 yards and a touchdown for Cincinnati (4-7, 2-4 Big East), but also had four interceptions. The Huskies (7-4, 4-2) have won four consecutive conference games. A UConn victory next week at South Florida, would give UConn a share of the Big East championship, and their first BCS bowl berth. The Huskies hold tiebreakers over Pittsburgh and West Virginia.

Boston College 16, Syracuse 7

SYRACUSE, N.Y.

Freshman tailback Andre Williams rushed for 185 yards on a school-record 42 carries and scored one touchdown in place of injured star Montel Harris. Nate Freese kicked three field goals. It was the fifth straight win for the Eagles (7-5). Syracuse (7-5) has had a turnaround season, winning five on the road, but finished the regular season without beating a Football Bowl Subdivision team at home.
