The Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania will have its 41st annual meeting on Wednesday at 4 p.m at the Youngstown Club, 201 E. Commerce St., on the fifth floor. The event will feature a series of reports regarding the association’s 2010 activities, highlighting labor relations, contract negotiations, finances, apprenticeship, construction volume and the Construction Advancement Program. Officers and executive committee members for 2011 will also be introduced.
The association will name the five Youngstown State University students selected to receive $10,000 in annual scholarship funds.

The Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber and Farmers National Bank will host a holiday celebration Dec. 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 7410 South Ave. The hotel ballroom will be transformed into Santa’s Bar, featuring Santa and his elves as bartenders. Guests can take a picture with Santa and play a variety of holiday games.
Reservations must be made by Thursday. Tickets are $20 for chamber members and $30 for non-members.

The Green Building Pros, a home-performance contractor that specializes in energy efficiency, is reminding homeowners that federal tax credits for home energy-efficiency upgrades expire at the end of 2010. Up to $1,500 in federal tax credits are available for home improvements, including insulation, air sealing, high-efficiency furnaces, as well as certain types of windows and doors. With these upgrades, homeowners can cut between 20 percent and 40 percent of their home-energy use.

Revol Wireless, a locally owned and operated wireless carrier, has opened a new store at 5855 Youngstown-Warren Road. The store will feature Revol’s new lineup of cell phones, which include features such as a full-touch screen, a built-in music player and full keyboards. The company, based in Independence, Ohio, has new unlimited calling plans that include nationwide coverage without roaming fees. Plans start at $30 per month.
