Boardman grad All-OAC in soccer
Boardman High School graduate Anthony Grenga, a junior defender on the Mount Union men’s soccer team, was named as an Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference recipient.
A computer science major with a 3.87 GPA, Grenga also was an All-OAC second-team performer on the field. In 2010, he had three goals and one assist in 19 games. Grenga was previously an Academic All-OAC recipient in 2009.
He is the son of Tony and Mary Sue Grenga.
Six local officials work state soccer games
Six members of the Mahoning Valley Soccer Officials Association worked games during the OHSAA state tournament at Columbus Crew Stadium.
The six officials are Troy Adair of Cortland, David Anderson of Boardman, Paul Fennema of Salem, Marty Milush of Boardman, Bob Sherman of Cortland and Thom Sutcliffe of Poland.
PBA tournament coming in March
A Professional Bowlers Association regional tournament will be held at Bell-Wick Bowl March 18-20 to benefit the high school bowling teams of Hubbard and Liberty.
The event is expected to attract up to 200 pro and amateur bowlers from the PBA Central and East regions to benefit local businesses, hotels and restaurants.
In conjunction with the PBA, the Leopards and Eagles will also be hosting a scratch tournament and pro-am for adults and high school bowlers.
