Children’s author visits Poland Union

Neighbors | Submitted.Children's author Denise Brennan-Nelson spoke to first and second-graders about one of the books she wrote during her visit to Poland Union.

Students at Poland Union enjoyed a special literary treat when children’s author and motivational speaker Denise Brennan-Nelson visited the school Nov. 9 and spent the day with students kindergarten through fourth-grade.

The visit was courtesy of Mrs. Stoll, a second-grade teacher at Union.

Stoll entered a writing contest sponsored by Sleeping Bear Press Publishing Company describing what the perfect school author visit would be.

The children were broken up into smaller groups throughout the day and Brennan-Nelson spoke to them about writing, what it takes to get published and how to use your imagination to create all kinds of different stories.

Using humor to impress upon her points to the students, she was able to convey simple, but important, lessons to her audiences. Her books teach valuable lessons to students and parents of all ages.

Students also had the opportunity to get books personally signed by the author.
