St. Elizabeth Health Center, 1044 Belmont Ave., is offering a free program on self-care and how to make decisions about health using “Health at Home,” a book of instructions for more than 200 health problems. Runners needed

Runners are needed to participate in the McDonald Lions Club’s 2nd Annual Feed the Need 5K Run on Saturday beginning at 9:45 a.m. at the Performing Arts Center, 201 Ohio Ave. A 2-mile Fun Walk begins at 9:30 a.m. The entry fee is $12 plus two canned goods or $15 on race day without canned goods. Breast health

Dr. Maryann Payne, breast surgeon with the Magee Comprehensive Breast Center at UPMC Horizon, will host “Myths and Mingle,” a discussion about breast health, on Monday at Tuscany Square Ristorante, New Castle, and Dec. 13 at Rachel’s Roadhouse, Mercer. Nursing program

SHARON, PA.

Sharon Regional Health System School of Nursing has added a pre-entrance exam to its admission process for the school’s 16-month diploma program. Applicants must first earn 12 college credits from specified courses with a quality point average of at least 2.5; and then take the “The Test of Essential Academic Skills” that tests ability in math, reading, English and science.

Instructor training

The American Red Cross of the Mahoning Valley is offering the Instructor Training class on three consecutive Thursdays, Dec. 2, 9 and 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at its main office, 661 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren.

Participants will receive instruction in CPR/AED, first aid and blood-borne pathogens and preventing disease transmission. All three sessions are required for successful completion. The cost is $195.

Immunizations

The Niles City Health Department is offering immunization clinics for children from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 and 15 at the health department, 34 W. State St. No appointment is needed and no one is refused because of inability to pay. Parents must have their child’s immunization records. Children should be feeling well, and children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
