Caroling figures at Sutliff Museum

WARREN

The Sutliff Museum is exhibiting a collection of caroling figures from every walk of life. A baker, a fine lady and a chimney sweep sing together in one scene, while a nun, a chef and a child harmonize in another.

Gathered by Cal and Dorothy Cavalcante of Howland over 20 years, the figures capture the spirit of the season in a richly decorated setting. The Cavalcantes displayed the carolers on their mantle for years. Dorothy, a Warren city school teacher, died unexpectedly last spring, and her husband agreed to exhibit the collection at the Sutliff as a memorial to her.

The display may be viewed from 2:45 p.m. every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, except Christmas weekend, through December. The Sutliff will have an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 11 for its Victorian Christmas tree and decorations. Admission is free. The museum is in the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. Go to sutliffmuseum.org for more information.
