POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty, Girard and Hubbard:

LIBERTY

Nov. 16

Arrest: Lillie E. Price, 49, of 550 W. Chalmers Ave., Youngstown, was arrested at the Mahoning County jail on a warrant from the township accusing her of failing to appear in court.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a home in the 1300 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road through a rear sliding-glass door, stole copper and damaged a water tank and furnace.

Arrest: Delshawn L. Torres, 21, of 545 Highland Ave. SW, Warren, was picked up at the Mahoning County jail on charges of misuse of a credit card and failure to appear in court.

Harassment: A Murray Hill Drive woman said her former husband made about 10 unwanted calls.

Nov. 17

Criminal damaging: Someone smashed two sliding-glass windows in the 100 block of Euclid Boulevard. Damage came to $500.

Recovered property: A Youngstown woman found her stolen 1998 Ford Escort in the 3600 block of Belmont Avenue.

Breaking and entering: Roughly $5,000 worth of copper piping and wiring was removed from the basement of a residence someone had broken into through a front window.

Arrest: Weathersfield police handed 37-year-old Shawn M. Scott, 3828 Niles Road SE, Warren, to Liberty authorities. Scott was wanted on an outstanding warrant charging him with failure to appear in court.

Nov. 19

Criminal damaging: Someone in the 500 block of Murray Hill Drive cut two straps used to secure items in the bed of a pickup truck.

Drugs: A traffic stop on Belmont Avenue resulted in the arrest of 27-year-old Roberto C. Colon, 258 E. Dewey Ave., Youngstown, on charges of possession of dangerous drugs and driving under suspension. Police found two pills for which Colon admitted having no prescription, they said.

Domestic violence: Christopher Cunningham, 50, of 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Youngstown, was charged with the crime after officers responded to a dispute at a West Montrose Street residence and were told Cunningham had threatened several times to kill two people during an argument about a bill.

Nov. 20

Burglary: To an apartment in the 30 block of Trumbull Court that had its front door kicked in. Stolen was a 32-inch flat-screen TV.

Nov. 21

Theft/damage: A Logan Arms Drive woman accused her two daughters of forcing open a bedroom door and removing clothing and jewelry without permission.

Drugs: Police pulled over a vehicle near Oriel-Rogers Road, where they took 24-year-old Jeffrey Painter, 621 Wyoming Ave., Niles, into custody on a drug-abuse charge. A suspected marijuana cigar was found, a report said.

GIRARD

Nov. 18

Menacing: A Trumbull Avenue man told authorities two people threatened to beat up the accuser and damage his home and vehicle.

Menacing: A Louis Circle woman said her boyfriend threatened her, in part by claiming he had a knife. Police, however, found no weapon, they said.

Nov. 19

Menacing: A Girard woman alleged her former boyfriend followed her and continually drove past her residence, then made and sent unwanted calls and text messages.

Trespassing: Police got a report of several juveniles trespassing in a building in the 30 block of North Ward Avenue, then charged 19-year-old Courtney A. Kutsch, 4201 Logan Gate Road, Liberty, with criminal trespassing and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after saying she and four youngsters had been found hiding in the auditorium. Charges were pending against the four.

Nov. 20

Assaults: Officers responded to a fight between two people in the 100 block of Olive Street. One sought medical attention after having struck her head on the ground.

Theft: A checkbook was removed from a car in the 90 block of Crumlin Avenue.

Theft: A small amount of change was taken from a vehicle in the 50 block of Crumlin Avenue.

Criminal mischief: Someone intentionally turned on a faucet and allowed water to run at a residence in the 300 block of Idaho Avenue.

Nov. 21

Criminal mischief: Eggs were tossed at a car in the 300 block of East Broadway Avenue.

Criminal mischief: Two sets of tire tracks were found in a yard in the 900 block of North Ward Avenue.

Criminal mischief: Police received several complaints about pumpkins having been used to damage vehicles’ windshields and mirrors on East Broadway and Crumlin avenues as well as Hazel and West Second streets.

HUBBARD

Nov. 17

Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s tires were slashed in the 10 block of Walnut Street.

Possible fraud: A Drummond Avenue woman filed a report believing she was a victim.

Breaking and entering: A woman in the 60 block of South Main Street discovered a likely break-in.

Nov. 19

Fraud: A Sunset Drive man noticed an unauthorized withdrawal to his account.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A West Liberty Street man said he loaned his car to a friend who failed to return it.

Nov. 20

Weapon: Police received a report that someone had fired a gun from a window in the 1600 block of Rachellen Avenue.

Nov. 21

Theft: An Elmwood Drive woman accused her employer of deliberately withholding her paycheck.
