Elections board certifies Waddell as new mayor of Newton Falls

WARREN

The Trumbull County Board of Elections has certified that Lyle A. Waddell is the new mayor of Newton Falls.

After the counting of provisional ballots, the elections board certified Tuesday that Newton Falls voters had recalled Pat Layshock by 28 votes — 535 to 507.

The vote total reported on election night, Nov. 4, was 526 votes for recall and 500 against.

The elections board also certified Tuesday that Waddell received the most votes among the three candidates seeking to replace Layshock.

Waddell received 358 votes, Tarry A. Alberini received 274, and Ronnie L. Cross received 108.

Waddell is planning a swearing-in ceremony at 7 p.m. tonight in Newton Falls Municipal Court.
