Remains may be those of Ohio woman

BELLAIRE, Ohio

Authorities believe they have found the remains of an elderly woman who disappeared from an Ohio retirement facility in April.

A civilian-organized search team found the remains Saturday in a wooded area less than a mile from the Country Club Retirement Home where Luella Edge, 80, was reported missing April 30, The Times Leader of Martins Ferry reported.

Civilian volunteers joined police in searching for Edge when she was reported missing, and deputies on horseback, dogs and helicopters were used in the initial search that was halted about two weeks later after found no trace of her was found.

Investigators said earlier that they believed Edge climbed out a window of the retirement home near Bellaire in eastern Ohio on her first night there.
