A summary of recent criminal activity in Canfield city and Austintown:

CANFIELD CITY

Nov. 5

Theft: Police arrested Joseph Potkanowicz, 395 Carriage Lane, for theft for allegedly using a woman’s check book to pay bills totaling $338.61 plus fees and penalties. The woman said the subject had been using her account since July without her knowledge.

Nov. 15

Theft: A resident of Pinecone Drive called police and said a number of pieces of expensive jewelry are missing.

Drug paraphernalia: Police arrested Ali Abou-Osmon,18, 4996 Canfield Road, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia at Canfield High School, 100 Cardinal Drive.

Unwanted calls: A female resident of Topaz Circle, reported receiving prank phone calls.

Warrant: Police arrested Joseph Catullo, 39, 12255 Green Beaver Road, Salem, during a Mayor’s Court appearance at which is was discovered he had an active warrant out of Mahoning County.

Nov. 17

Mayor’s Court Warrant: Police arrested Matthew Richardson, 27, 7688 Hays Road, Williamsfield, Ohio, on a charge of failure to appear at the Monastery Inn, 7815 Akron-Canfield Road.

Nov.19

Theft: $20 was stolen from a purse at Canfield High School.

Fraudulent credit card charges: A Hickory Hollow Drive man reported that two of his Visa cards had been used fraudulently.

AUSTINTOWN TOWNSHIP

Nov. 15

Theft: A cell phone was reported stolen at the Go-Go Cabaret, 5455 Clarkins Drive.

Receiving stolen property: A stolen diamond ring was pawned by a woman at Austintown Pawn Shop, 3700 Mahoning Ave.

Aggravated menacing: Threatening phone calls were reported at a home in the 4000 block of Pembrook Road.

Assault: A woman was assaulted by three other females at the Babylon, 114 Javit Court.

Fraud: Extra charges were added to a credit card at the Go-Go Cabaret, 5455 Clarkins Drive.

Menacing: A male teenager was threatened over the phone at a home in the 4000 block of Shadow Oak Drive.

Theft: A male suspect stole an unknown amount of money at Country Fair, 1143 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Nov. 16

Telecommunications harassment: Unwanted calls were being received at a home in the 4000 block of Mahoning Avenue.

Theft: 12,000 pounds of steel spreader pipe and steel adjusters valued at $50,000 were stolen from Kundel Industries, 3710 Hendricks Road.

Telecommunications harassment: Over 100 calls were received by the victim from her ex-husband at a home in the 3000 block of Heritage Court.

Theft: A phone and driver’s license were stolen at the Go-Go Cabaret.

Theft: Police arrested Cindy Sieradksi, 38, 1671 Moorefield, on a charge of theft at Wal-Mart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: Pills and cash were stolen from a purse at Techni-Cuts, 67 Ohltown Road.

Nov. 17

Fraud: Unauthorized charges were reported at a home in the 2000 block of Sprucewood Drive.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle window was shot out at Comprehensive Logistics, 365 Victoria Road.

Assault: Three victims were spayed with pepper spray by an employee at O’Donold’s, 6000 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: A subject took two electric razors and got in a car and left at Wal-Mart.

Theft: A leather purse was stolen at K-Mart, 4475 Mahoning Ave.

Burglary: At an apartment in the 1000 block of S. Raccoon Road.

Assault: A male suspect was involved in an assault at Big Lots, 4341 Kirk Road.

Nov. 18

Theft: Police issued a summons to David Rocknic, 59, 1275 Woodhurst for theft at K-Mart.

Identity theft: A Dominion account was opened in the name of the deceased at a home in the 3000 block of Idlewood Road.

Attempted auto theft: The steering column was peeled on a 1993 Buick at Infocision, 5749 Interstate Blvd.

Theft: A package was stolen from a porch or mailbox around Nov. 1 in the 1000 block of N. Meridian Road.

Theft: Vicodin was stolen from an auto at Salsitas, 5495 Clarkins Drive.

Nov. 19

Warrant: Zachary Keely, 20, 514 Wyoming Ave., Niles, was arrested on a warrant for theft at state Route 534 and Mahoning Avenue.

Theft: Mail containing medication was stolen at a home in the 4000 block of Burkey Road.

Theft: An Ohio driver’s license was stolen at Verizon Wireless, 4774 Mahoning Ave.

Burglary: A residence was entered and clothing burned at a home in the 80 block of Rosemont Avenue.

Theft: A final paycheck to an employee was over-paid and the employee refuses to return the money at Briarfield Manor, 461 S. Canfield-Niles Road.

Warrant: Michael Bach, 60, 252 S. Bon Air, Youngstown, was arrested on a warrants alleging theft and criminal trespassing at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, 242 Federal Plaza West, Youngstown.

Theft: A bicycle was stolen in the 900 block of Compass West apartments.

Theft: A man stole a $70 leather coat and $50 boots from Kmart, 4475 Mahoning Ave.

Disorderly conduct: David Klopta, 54, 624 West Heights, Youngstown, was issued a summons for disorderly conduct at N. Meridian Road and Oakwood Ave.

Criminal damaging: A window was damaged at a home in the 5000 block of Sterling Drive.

Nov. 20

Warrant: Michael Jackson, 24, 3057 Salisma, Youngstown, was arrested on warrants for failure to appear on charges of child support and speeding in the 900 block of Compass West.

Theft: Ashley Scharba, 19, 478 Smith Ave., Sharon, Pa., was issued a summons for theft at Dots, 6000 Mahoning Ave.

Criminal damaging: A window was broken at a home in the 3000 block of Sandburg Drive.

Theft: Eight micro-fridge refrigerators were stolen at the Comfort Inn, 5425 Clarkins Drive.

Theft: Michael Marsh, 33, 4499 Warren-Sharon Road, Vienna, was arrested on charges of drug paraphernalia, drug possession and theft, and Lauren Whatley was arrested on a warrant for violating a protection order, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle at AT&T, 6000 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: A gold Seiko watch and Pandora bracelet were stolen from a home in the 6000 block of Wyndcliff Circle.

Criminal damaging: A cement angel was thrown at garage doors at a home in the 5000 block of W. Webb Road.

Criminal trespassing: Mark Jones was arrested on a charge of criminal trespassing at Wal-Mart.

Attempted burglary: An apartment door was damaged in the 4000 block of Kirk Road.

Disturbance: Five subjects were involved a minor altercation at Westgate Hotel, 4493 Mahoning Ave.

Warrant: Dante Hutchins, 28, 4217 Rush Blvd., was placed in county jail after being arrested on a warrant out of West Virginia for grand larceny and an Austintown warrant for misuse of a credit card.

Nov. 21

Drug offense: Aaron Sotak, 29, 524 Baldwin Ave., Niles, was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and permitting drug abuse and William Bradley, 26, 2044 S. Feederly, Warren was arrested on charges of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse cocaine.

Disorderly conduct: Timothy Vlasic, 59, 4813 Westchester, was issued a summons for disorderly conduct in the 100 block of Idaho Road.

Disorderly conduct: Joseph Skaggs, 20, 468 Roselawn, Lake Milton, was issued a summons for disorderly conduct.

Recovered property: A black wallet with $96 in U.S. currency was recovered at McDonald’s, 1709 S. Raccoon Road.

Theft: Michael Krugel, 28, 152 Matta Ave., was arrested for allegedly shoplifting three Playstation controllers at Wal-Mart.

Aggravated menacing: A victim was threatened with a handgun at an apartment in the 400 block of S. Raccoon Road.

Assault: A female was assaulted by her boyfriend in the 1000 block of Compass West.

Animal cruelty: Glass was left by a dog dish at a home in the 4000 block of New Road.

Criminal damaging: A tailgate was spray painted at a home in the 3000 block of S. Meridian Road.

Criminal damaging: A man broke out an apartment window in the 1000 block of Compass West.

Theft: A subject ran out on a cab fare of $54 in the 100 block of N. Main Street.
