The Cinderella Ball, which has been the sole fundraising event for the JCL’s scholarship program for 55 years, has become a holiday tradition wholeheartedly supported by the Mahoning Valley. The scholarship program was initially developed to supplement the limited amount of funds made available to qualified black students seeking a higher education. To date the league has awarded more than $435,000 to area students who have excelled and have become viable members of the community.
