Westminster to host holiday service

Westminster College’s Chapel Office and New Wilmington Ministerium will host a community Thanksgiving worship service featuring pastors from area churches at 7 p.m. Sunday in Wallace Memorial Chapel.

All are welcome to attend. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Dr. John Peterson, pastor emeritus of Center Presbyterian Church and a Westminster graduate.

Westminster student liturgists will be Joshua Caldwell, Dana Flick, Timothy Lane, Brian Mack and Katie Tomko.

Tomko, a junior elementary-education major, is a daughter of Ernest and Susan Tomko of Hermitage and a graduate of West Middlesex Area High School.

Music will be provided by the Westminster Handbell Choir under the direction of Anne Bruening; Second Chance Praise Band; and an All-Community Choir under the direction of Dr. Robin Lind, Westminster associate professor and director of choral activities.

The choir will rehearse at 5:45 p.m. at the New Wilmington Presbyterian Church.

Area pastors expected to participate include: the Rev. James Mohr, Westminster chaplain; the Rev. Rob Cypher and the Rev. Mickey Cypher, Victory Christian Center; Pastor Paul Fink, New Wilmington Alliance Church; the Rev. Ralph Hawkins, New Wilmington Presbyterian Church; the Rev. Joseph Hopkins, retired Presbyterian Church (USA) pastor affiliated with New Wilmington Presbyterian Church; the Rev. Bill Stone, Neshannock Presbyterian Church; and the Rev. Rex Wasser, New Wilmington United Methodist Church.

Those attending are asked to bring canned goods or make monetary donations that will be collected to support a local food pantry.

A fellowship reception will be in Old Main immediately after the service.
