The Oct. 29 Halloween celebration at St. Joseph and Immaculate Heart of Mary School was spooky and scary, but also about having plenty of fun.

The celebration was an all-day event that started in the morning, with an invitation from eighth-graders that the school and faculty tour the creepy haunted house created in room 104.

“We worked for two weeks, getting all of the rooms planned, with groups decorating their own room and providing their own costumes,” hardworking eighth-grader Jenny Daylor explained. “So far, it’s been less scary and more silly. The younger kids see us through our makeup and say hi and hug us, instead of being scared,” Daylor said.

At 1 p.m., ghouls and goblins from kindergarten through eighth grade began to stream out of the front doors of the school. The students paraded down Norquest Avenue to honks and waves from passing drivers, before circling around the school grounds and waving to a waiting crowd of parents and friends.

“Thanks for coming, everyone,” Principal John Rozzo said as he shook hands and talked with parents. “And have a wonderful holiday season.”
