Students serenaded the veterans with nine patriotic songs. Video slides that accompanied the songs were projected on a large overhead screen. They also read poems and gave the history of the holiday.
To conclude the program, the veterans received a standing ovation as they exited the auditorium into the hallway, where they waited for the students.
United States Army reservist Spc. Josh Kellar was invited to the program by his stepdaughter. He was honored by the school’s recognition of his service and the service of other military members.
“I am very proud to wear this uniform,” Kellar said, “It’s nice to be thanked.”
