FOCAS sponsors holiday event as benefit for area children

Friends of Children’s Aid Society of Mercer County, 350 Market St., is inviting the public to its annual “Christmas Celebration for Children” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 2 and 3.

Featured for sale at the holiday event will be homemade rolls, breads, pies, cookies and candies. Also available for purchase will be holiday baskets and items for gifting.

In a continuing effort to raise funds for the benefit of area children, the organization is also taking orders for live poinsettias in four colors, fresh evergreen wreaths, door and window swags, and white pine roping that may be picked up during the holiday fundraiser. Proceeds the events will benefit the programs and services of FOCAS and will aid the agency’s Christmas giving.

During the 2009 Christmas season, the Children’s Aid Society provided toys, clothing and necessities for 2,682 families. Helping to make the gifting possible was $1,500 raised at this annual fundraiser. With the support of the community, FOCAS was able to donate $8,425 in the past year for the Children’s Aid Society.
