The Austintown Fitch High School’s Vocal Music Department is getting into the spirit of the season and filling the halls with sounds of Christmas as they prepare for its upcoming performance titled “A Holiday to Remember.”

The Christmas concert will be open to the public Dec. 5 at 3 p.m. in the Fitch auditorium.

The program will include Classical Christmas selections like “Hallelujah” and “Sing for Joy” by Handel along with “My Tree Lone Gone by to Me” and “Sleigh Bells.”

With four complete choirs performing, including the Concert Choir, the Falcon Songsters, Girl’s Chorus I and Girl’s Chorus II, there will be 150 vocal music students participating in the performance under the direction of Kay Williams.

Tickets will be available at the door at $5 for an adult and $3 for students and senior citizens.

As part of its fundraising efforts, the Choral Parents Club will sell tickets for a prize drawing that evening. The club will raffle off 12 gift baskets with the proceeds from the ticket sales going to three $500 scholarships to be awarded to senior choir members in the spring. The application process for the scholarship includes writing a paper with a music theme.
