Take a break from the busy holiday season and join Disciples Christian Church on a Journey to Bethlehem Dec. 4 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The walk-through drama will recreate the sights and sounds of the village of Bethlehem at the time of Christ’s birth and features a live nativity.

“We will have various stations where people can interact with people of the times,” said the church’s pastor Rev. Tim Brown.

Participants will take part in a Census, meet King Herod, visit angels, wise men, shepherds tending flocks and join the cast in its search for the newborn baby. Afterward, visitors can go to the ancient city’s marketplace and watch craftsman at their work, make a craft, visit the soothsayer or enjoy refreshments, including cocoa and cookies.

“We tried to make it meaningful for adults and kids in the community,” said Brown. “And I hope this is an alternative for them during the busy holiday season and gets the real message out that Christ was born to give hope.”

The church is located at 565 Boardman-Canfield Road, across from Giant Eagle and Get-Go in Boardman.
