The trial of a man charged in the bludgeoning death of an elderly man has ended in a mistrial after jurors could not reach agreement on a verdict.
Jurors declared themselves hopelessly deadlocked Tuesday afternoon in the case of 47-year-old Donald Howard of Union City. He was charged with homicide, burglary and robbery in the death of 79-year-old Raymond Goodwill Jr. of Union Township on Independence Day last year.
Police cited inconsistent statements by Howard.
