Three city high school students join the school board, representing their classmates.

Omar Mujajed of Chaney, Keyona Woods of East and Aaron Hughes-Ware of Youngstown Early College, all seniors, each will serve a one-year term.

“They will be officially installed at the next board meeting next week,” said John Allen, school district ombudsman, at a board meeting Tuesday.

Student board members don’t have voting authority but give reports on events and activities at their school.

They were selected on the basis of grade-point averages, a written essay and interviews with a panel of school representatives.
