Replica grenade in act causes stir at wharf
SAN FRANCISCO
A juggler performing near San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf caused a stir when onlookers worried he was using a live grenade as part of his performance.
Police closed off a block near the popular tourist spot around 5 p.m. Saturday so investigators could take a closer look. It turned out to be a replica. The area was reopened about 6:15 p.m.
The juggler was detained, but a police spokesman did not know if he had been arrested.
Police did not identify the man. It was not known if he was a regular performer in the area or had used the replica grenade in previous juggling acts.
Vanity plate IDs robbery suspect
MANCHESTER, N.H.
Police say a New Hampshire woman charged with robbing a pharmacy wasn’t hard to find: Her name was on the license plate of the getaway car.
Police say a motorist watched the woman flee from a Rite Aid parking lot in Manchester. The witness also saw the woman toss items from her car. The vanity plate read “B-USHER.”
Police said the car was registered to 43-year-old Bonnie Usher, who was arrested at her home. Police recovered stolen money and found a ski mask.
An official at the Hillsborough County Jail says Usher was being held Sunday on $60,000 bail.
